Lake County provides a variety of treatment, training and support services that are available to those experiencing problems related to emotional and mental illness, or drug and alcohol addiction. Individuals can speak anonymously to counselors 24 hours a day and get help by contacting the Crisis Care Program at 847-377-8088. You do not have to give your name when you call. Information and referrals to Lake County Health Department programs are available. Crisis counselors are also available to speak with you in person 24 hours a day. You can call first to let us know you’re coming by, or just show up. Counselors can help guide you through difficult times, manage stress, anxiety and depression, and cope with longer-term difficulties. Text-A-Tip Text-A-Tip is a 24/7 anonymous text-communication system for youth needing immediate mental health assistance for themselves or a friend. Case workers from the Adult Protective Services Provider Agencies conduct investigations and work with adults age 60 or older and adults age 18-59 with disabilities in resolving the abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation situation. To learn more about home and community-based services and supports for those ages 60 and over, contact the Care Coordination Unit (CCU) in your area through the Community Care Program (CCP). Once a referral is made a Care Coordinator will make a home visit and assist the participant in determining eligibility for CCP and in developing a person-centered plan of care. CCP core services include homecare aides, adult day services, emergency home response services and automated medication dispensers. In addition to CCP services, the CCU can link older adults to community-based services offered by the local Area Agency on Aging.
