The Lake County Housing Authority manages several funded programs including public housing, HCV (Housing Choice Vouchers), previously Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers funded by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and subsidized affordable housing units for rental assistance.

The LCHA Housing Choice Voucher Program helps eligible low-income individuals and families pay their rent, and the Family Self-Sufficiency Program encourages low-income families to increase earnings and contributions toward their rent in exchange for money being placed in an escrow account.
